Divertimento for Euphonium and Symphonic Band

DIVERT THE HARE es una obra alegre y divertida, concebida para deleite tanto del intérprete como del público.
Su primera sección despliega un carácter vivaz y juguetón, que invita a la sonrisa y al movimiento, preparando el terreno para una experiencia musical llena de humor y vitalidad.

En la sección central, la obra se vuelve lenta y muy cantabile, rindiendo homenaje a la dulzura y la expresividad de la canción popular valenciana, ofreciendo al solista la posibilidad de mostrar la calidez y sensibilidad de su sonido.

La tercera sección recrea la imagen de la liebre que corre de aquí para allá, con agilidad y ligereza, haciendo un guiño muy especial a la obra del mismo autor, para bombardino y tuba “La Liebre y la Tortuga”, invitando a los oyentes a seguir el juego musical con entusiasmo y deleite.

Este divertimento está pensado para que el solista brille en cada pasaje, destacando virtuosismo, musicalidad y expresividad, y está diseñado para agradar y emocionar a todo el público. Una obra que combina ingenio, humor y sensibilidad, celebrando la alegría de interpretar y escuchar música.

DIVERT THE HARE is a joyful and playful work, conceived to delight both the performer and the audience. Its first section displays a lively and mischievous character, inviting smiles and movement, and setting the stage for a musical experience full of humor and vitality.

In the central section, the work slows the pace and is very cantabile, paying tribute to the sweetness and expressiveness of Valencian folk song, while giving the soloist the opportunity to showcase the warmth and sensitivity of their sound.

The third section depicts the hare running here and there with agility and lightness, offering a special nod to the composer’s earlier work for euphonium and tuba, The Hare and the Tortoise, and inviting listeners to follow the musical play with enthusiasm and delight.

This divertimento is designed for the soloist to shine throughout, highlighting virtuosity, musicality, and expressiveness, and is intended to please and move the audience. A work that combines wit, humor, and sensitivity, celebrating the joy of performing and listening to music.
