——–

On July 25, composer and conductor Ferrer Ferran returned to Mancha Real (Jaén, Spain) for one of the most moving occasions of the season: the world premiere of his new work BODAS DE ORO (Golden Anniversary), conducted by the composer himself at the head of the Banda «Villa de Mancha Real».

The Casa de la Cultura de Mancha Real was filled to capacity. Not a single seat remained empty, and the audience followed the evening from the very first bar with a rare intensity, aware that they were witnessing a unique moment in the town’s musical history.

BODAS DE ORO was written as a tribute to fifty years of devotion, memory and shared love: half a century transformed into sound. The work traces an emotional arc that begins in the most intimate evocation, passes through deeply nostalgic episodes and culminates in a luminous, celebratory finale in which the band unfolds its full sonic power. True to the descriptive language that characterises Ferrer Ferran’s catalogue, the score speaks of roots, gratitude and everything that time cannot erase.

The premiere reached its peak in the closing bars, when the audience rose to its feet and sustained a long, deeply felt ovation. There were tears among the public, and among the musicians themselves, who delivered a committed and profoundly sincere performance.

«Conducting the premiere of BODAS DE ORO in Mancha Real has been one of the most moving experiences I can remember. Seeing the auditorium completely full, feeling the audience breathe with the music and sharing that silence before the final chord is something a musician never forgets. Mancha Real has an immense heart, and it has shown me that once again.»
— Ferrer Ferran

The maestro expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the band, to Mancha Real Town Concil for their support, and above all to an audience whose warmth filled the hall and welcomed the new work with extraordinary generosity.

With this premiere, Ferrer Ferran strengthens his close ties with Mancha Real, a town of deep wind band tradition to which he previously dedicated his pasodoble Villa de Mancha Real, and where he conducted the historic concert commemorating the 150th anniversary of its band.

BODAS DE ORO now joins the composer’s catalogue and is available to wind bands worldwide.
