This work was premiered on April 18, 2026, in the Auditorium Hall of the Cuenca campus, performed by the four bands of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, under the direction of the composer. “Juvenis Aeterna” es un canto sinfónico a la juventud, al conocimiento y a la vida. Inspirada en el espíritu del célebre himno académico Gaudeamus Igitur, la obra no pretende citarlo literalmente, sino evocar su esencia: la alegría de aprender, el entusiasmo del descubrimiento y la energía luminosa de los años jóvenes que nunca se apagan en el alma.

A lo largo de la suite, la música transita desde la inocencia del primer saber hasta la plenitud del entendimiento, pasando por la pasión, la amistad y la inevitable conciencia del paso del tiempo. Cada página suena como una metáfora de la existencia: crecer, compartir, recordar y celebrar.

La melodía académica, símbolo universal del estudio y de la fraternidad, surge entre texturas orquestales amplias, se transforma en danza, se tiñe de melancolía y finalmente renace triunfante. El discurso sinfónico se convierte así en una reflexión musical sobre la vida misma: un viaje que comienza con la curiosidad y culmina en la sabiduría.

“Juvenis Aeterna” es, en definitiva, una celebración de lo que somos cuando el arte, el conocimiento y la música nos mantienen eternamente jóvenes.

“Juvenis Aeterna” is a symphonic song to youth, to knowledge, and to life. Inspired by the famous academic hymn Gaudeamus Igitur, the work does not seek to quote it literally, but rather to evoke its essence: the joy of learning, the thrill of discovery, and the radiant energy of youthful years that never fade from the soul.

Throughout the suite, the music moves from the innocence of first learning to the fullness of understanding, passing through passion, friendship, and the inevitable awareness of the passing of time. Each page becomes a metaphor for existence itself: to grow, to share, to remember, and to celebrate.

The academic melody—an international symbol of study and fellowship—emerges within broad orchestral textures, transforms into dance, takes on a shade of melancholy, and ultimately returns in triumph. The symphonic discourse thus becomes a musical reflection on life: a journey that begins with curiosity and culminates in wisdom.

“Juvenis Aeterna” is, in essence, a celebration of what we become when art, knowledge, and music keep us forever young.
