The Bible contains a story about a human
sacrifice is not consummated when God commands Abraham to offer in
sacrifice his son Isaac in a ceremonial hill. Abraham went with Isaac
to the mountain without saying that he would be killed and after he will
gather the wood for the holocaust. Bound him, put him on the altar and began
to slaughter with a knife. At that moment he was arrested by God who tells
him not to kill his son because "I already know that you fear God, hast not
withheld thy son, thine only."
